Hello everyone...
The other day I received a great newsletter from John Seeley at www.getunstuck.com -- it's really appropriate for this time of year and I thought I would share it with you. Well... part of the newsletter!
Einstein said, "to continue doing the same thing and expecting different results is insanity." How many of us each year go about doing the same things and keep hoping for a different outcome? Maybe this year mom won't criticise me. Maybe this year I'll get along with my brother. Maybe this year we won't have a disaster around the holiday table. The question to ask is what's different? Just because it's another year doesn't mean that things have changed. Since you know you can't change others, the real question to ask is how are you different?
Many people think, "if only so and so would change, then everything would be great." The only person you can change is yourself. What have you done to do that? The usual response I get is that I'm doing the best I can. Well that is the justification answer you tell yourself and others, but the truth is you can do better. You just need help to do that.
Would you like to have different results? Then take stock of your life and what things you have been doing. As Dr Phil says, "How's that working for you?" If it's not working, decide that you really are willing to do something different. Once you decide, life will start moving to help you make those changes. Sometimes it looks like just the opposite, since what often happens is what held you back comes up for you. That's a gift. It's saying ok, here's what has kept you from what you want. The only thing to do is to deal with it.
What is needed is the commitment, and then the guidance and support to make it through the process. Don't be afraid to ask for help. You can make your life different, and make the holidays different. People respond differently to you once you make your changes. Take the first step, and believe you can make it happen.
This certainly rings true for me... how about you? Have you thought about what you want to change in your life? And if you have, are you prepared to make changes to you??
Follow the comment link thingy below and let me know your experiences and what you are thinking. Would love to hear from you! Truly!
Best wishes
Jeanne
