Have you ever done a jigsaw puzzle?
Do you remember taking possession of a brand new jigsaw puzzle, looking at the picture on the box... knowing that inside the box are 100s or 1,000s of tiny pieces, all different shapes and colours, all mixed up, which all need to be put together before you get the finished picture?
Do you remember opening up the box, looking at the contents and feeling a mixture of excitement, enthusiasm and eagerness to put it together as quickly as possible? ... But also understanding that it was going to take time, parts of the jigsaw puzzle were going to be a huge challenge depending on how complicated and complex the final picture was -- the sky and the trees often provided the biggest challenge because there were so many pieces with similar color but not the right shape!
As you pull each piece out of the box... and begin organising the pieces... and then begin putting each piece together... the picture on the box begins to emerge!
And then, when all the pieces are put together... your jigsaw puzzle is complete and you have the finished product. It may have taken you a few hours, several days, weeks or months to complete depending on how many pieces the jigsaw was made up of, how complicated the picture was, and how many distractions (including people clearing it from the table without you knowing!) you had along the way!
Achieving any goal, let alone a Life Changing Goal, is a bit like a huge jigsaw puzzle (ok you may have to use your imagination a bit!)... jigsaw puzzles and life changing goals have lots of different pieces that need to be put together to successfully achieve the final outcome!
- you see the finished product (even if it is only a picture on a box) long before you experience the finished product
- you need to put lots of different pieces together
- it takes time and patience
- you may (and most likely will) get distractions along the way
- and you have to put the correct pieces together... not all pieces fit nicely together but when you find the right combination, the finished product emerges beautifully!
