The Power of Now: Jim Carrey's thoughts

Many people rely on their spiritual beliefs and understanding of the laws of the universe to successfully achieve what they desire in life.

Jim Carrey, a successful comedy actor, is one such person who has used his spiritual background and beliefs to achieve enormous success in his career.

I must confess... I'm not a Jim Carrey fan in terms of his acting ability.  His movies don't impress me (I'm not really into comedy)... but I am impressed with his thoughts and the way he lives by his spiritual beliefs.

In this very brief video, Jim Carrey discusses his thoughts on Eckhart Tolles philosophy and those expressed in his new  Book "A New Earth".

The power we have is in this very moment.... that is the basis of Eckhart Tolles philosophy.  Jim talks about how this applies to his life... and therefore everybody else's.

Motivational Quotes: video to get you going!

An essential part of achieving any goal is to keep motivated. 

And a technique to remain motivated is to read and listen to motivating people... and also to put up motivating quotes throughout your home, your work area... so you frequently see and absorb the gems of motivation. 

Motivational quotes are useful and important:

• to give us a shot of inspiration
• to increase our positive feelings and thoughts
• to help us keep on track
• to boost our enthusiasm and energy
• to increase our vibration and align it with what we want to achieve in life
• we hear the wisdom of others
• we feel encouraged by those who have provided the quotes

Suggestion: whenever you see a good motivational quote that resonates with you... write it down and put it in a place where you'll frequently see it.  Write down as many quotes as you can.  Believe me... you cannot get too many.

How to Be A No Limit Person

Wayne Dyer is one of my favourite speakers... I find his work enriching, inspiring, motivating and enlightening... he walks his talk!

I was wandering through YouTube this morning and came across a video by Wayne Dyer... actually, many videos by Dr Dyer! 

I've read many of his books, listened to countless audios and had the privilege of attending one of Wayne Dyer's talks at a conference several years ago... each time I listen to him I learn so much about the universe and about me...

This video, "How to be a no limit person", is well timed for me... it is giving me valuable reminders and I hope you find it beneficial too.

In essence, Wayne Dyer believes you are the sum total of the choices you have made up till now.  Anything about yourself or your life that you don't like or isn't working for you needs to be looked at in the terms of "can I grow?" rather than "why do I do this?", "why is this wrong??"

There are 2 kinds of motivation:

1) deficiency motivation: "why am I where I don't like to be?"... "I don't like what I've done", "I don't like the fact that I can't do..."

With deficiency motivation, you list the things you can't do and what you don't like... and you constantly try to repair these things.

When you live like that you suffer from a disease called "more"... you always have to have more .  Even where you get where you want to be, you find out it isn't enough.

2) no limit motivation: a no limit person never operates from deficiency or not enough.  Everything in your life is how it should be, every opportunity to do something or experience something is enthusiastically and graciously accepted.

If you don't know how to appreciate what you have and where you are in your life, you don't need anything else because if you do get something else you won't know how to appreciate that either.  You will just want more, or you will want it to be different, or you will want it to be the way it used to be.

A no limit person always has enough... whatever their life is, they appreciate it and it is enough for them.

Some people can handle anything -- not because their circumstances are different.  Your circumstances have very little to do with fulfillment in your life.  It's how you approach your circumstances, it's your attitude towards your circumstances that make all the difference in the world -- taking what you are and accepting it.

No limit people are those who take what they are and accept it and don't tell themselves that somehow they are deficient.

Richard St John is an amazing motivational speaker.  In this short video, Richard St John delivers a presentation called "8 Words in 3 Minutes" where he discusses 8 most powerful words describing success!

Richard St John asked prominent successful people including Bill Gates, Goldie Hawn, Rupert Murdoch "what leads to success?"... and this 3-minute video is the result!

This video is motivational, incredibly funny, to the point... and delivers a powerful message everyone needs to hear and be reminded of!

Social Confidence: 7 suggestions to feel a million dollars with others

A lack of confidence in social situations can be a huge problem for many people.

A lack of confidence can make meeting and talking with people extremely difficult... sometimes making conversation with someone who has a huge lack of confidence is like drawing teeth without an anaesthetic!  Painful!

Not only is it painful for the person who is trying to converse with someone who lacks confidence but the person who lacks confidence is often in agony!  And I'm talking from experience here!

Our confidence level is influenced by many things... how we feel about our expertise and knowledge, how we feel others perceive us, how comfortable we are with others.

And our confidence is also influenced by how we feel we look to others... how we feel we "shape up" in the eyes of others.

There are many things we can easily, inexpensively, and quickly do to give ourselves a confidence boost when meeting or interacting with others. 

Here are 7 suggestions to look good.  If you look good... you feel good.  If you feel good about your looks, your confidence gets a much needed boost!

• be clean and tidy -- make sure you are fresh e.g. have a shower or a wash to freshen up.  When your skin is clean and fresh you feel so much better.  Often it isn't possible to shower just before being with others e.g. meeting after work.  But you can go to any public restroom and wash your face and hands, touch up your makeup (if you are a woman), reshuffle your clothing e.g. straighten your tie, your shirt, your skirt
• looking good doesn't mean having expensive clothing -- when you are meeting others, take some time choosing what you will wear.  Wear clothes that you feel good in -- word of caution: most of us feel so great and comfortable in daggy trackies but that type of clothing does not do you any favours when you lack confidence with others.  Choose clothing that makes you feel more confident e.g. slightly dressy but still comfortable
• make sure you have tidy footwear -- having appropriate footwear, again it doesn't have to be designer label or the most expensive, as long as it is reasonably clean, helps you feel more confident.  In other words... avoid wearing joggers to a cocktail party for your work!
• make sure your hair is tidy -- just before you are meeting others and being put in a potentially stressful situation, comb your hair.  If you know you have an important social engagement coming up that day make sure your hair is clean -- wash it!
• have a fresh mouth -- remember, when you are with others you will most probably need to talk (cringe) which means people will be within a relatively short distance from your mouth.  A major confidence destroyer is the concern that we have something stuck in our teeth or that our breath smells... Do yourself a favour -- clean your teeth or at least give your mouth a thorough rinse before any social contact!
• smile!  Become aware of your facial expressions... and make yourself smile!   All too often when we lack confidence, we tend to frown, look serious or vague... not good!  Stand in front of the mirror and practise smiling... and remember if your mouth is clean and fresh you won't have the worry of what's between your teeth!
• practice confident posture and walking -- stand up straight, shoulders back, head held high, and don't slouch!  Watch confident people's posture and walk and copy what they do!

Helping yourself to boost your confidence is essential... and there are so many little tricks that will boost your confidence! 

If your confidence needs to be developed and strengthened... you would greatly benefit from this book Unstoppable Confidence... this is a valuable program if your confidence could be improved! 

And let's face it... it applies to most of us!  It certainly has for me over the years... I highly recommend that you look at this book -- you can only benefit from working on building your confidence!

Happiness: It's Our Choice

We choose reactions we have... it is our choice how we view situations and events.  No one else's choice... but ours.

Stay Motivated: Learn a New Skill!

Motivation is our desire and level of energy to do something... it is the driving force behind our actions.

Motivation is an essential part of everything we do and governs whether or not we will successfully achieve our goals and dreams throughout life.

It's natural our motivation level will fluctuate at different times... and also with different things we must do. 

Our motivation tends to be high with those things we are interested and passionate about... necessary tasks are easily and successfully accomplished.

When we are not interested or not looking forward to particular things... our motivation to do them tends to be low... necessary tasks take longer to do, if they ever get done!

In a recent article, How to Stay Motivated: 7 tips to keep the fire going!, one of the tips included learning more information or a new skill.

Many would argue that when they are lacking motivation to do something, they don't have the motivation to learn something new...

This is true... up to a point!  But learning new information or a new skill can have a huge motivating affect:

• often when we lose motivation it is because we are unsure what to do. 
• it gives us something different to think about -- it shifts our focus from what we know we have to do but don't feel like doing it to something new
• it rejuvenates our brain cells
• increases our confidence which in turn boosts our motivation
• provides fresh ideas and ways to look at things

I've recently experienced the rejuvenation in my motivation when I've learnt a new skill!  I've often relied on learning something new when my motivation is on the low side... and since it continues to work for me... I thought I would share it with you!

The Healing Power of Love

I received this quirky video with a powerful message... this morning.

The animated video shows the healing power of love.  And the words of the song are good as well.

Giving love, compassion and understanding to those who are angry, defensive, hurt and wounded can quickly melt these negative emotions away.

Love can quickly defuse a volatile situation... Love can instantly give positive energy to those situations clouded by darkness and despair.

Staying Motivated: Associate with People Who Are Motivated

One of the best ways to become motivated, to reignite your motivation, or to stay motivated... is to associate with people who themselves are motivated or who you find motivating!

Motivation is the drive or energy force behind what we do... and when we are not motivated it is very difficult to achieve anything in life.  Motivation comes from within us and it also can come from others or external situations.

It's not unusual for our motivation to fluctuate from time to time... that's natural!

And a sure fire way to give your motivation a boost is to talk with, read, listen to, hang out with, people you find motivating.  In other words, associate with motivating people... and that can be through personal contact, listening to or reading about them on DVDs, in books, on TV.

Associating with people you find motivating has a profound positive effect on increasing your motivation by :

• reigniting your energy
• providing you with inspiration to continue with your goal
• providing you with a new perspective
• providing you with a different outlook

If your motivation is on the low side... ask yourself:

• what kind of people do you associate with?  Do they have strong motivation?  Are they doing or saying things you find boosts your motivation.  Many people we have close connection with actually lower our motivation... they may be negative towards your goals and dreams, they may have no goals or dreams of their own or they may have little enthusiasm in achieving anything in life
• what kind of books do you read?  Are they motivating?  Do they add value to your knowledge, understanding, and energy?
• What kind of media do you listen to or watch?  Do you watch "soapies", do you watch or listen to things that you can "veg out" on?  Do you watch or listen to things that inspire, motivate you or enrich your life in some way?
